Mark Bengtson, Owner and mentor

Mark, our owner and mentor, has a self-professed obsession with movement patterns and body biomechanics/pathomechanics and their influence on potential injuries and painful postural patterns in his patients. He loves mentoring his staff to continue to grow and develop their skills.  

He is motivated by patient successes (and smiling faces) and has a distinct love for physical therapy. His passion for helping people move better, feel better, and participate in life more fully is why he started Pinnacle. On a personal level, he has 3 amazing and beautiful children that are his treasures, and he loves leading them to pursue life’s opportunities enthusiastically and to love others. He is their biggest fan and enjoys watching them learn through rich experiences, navigating new life challenges, and compete in sports. He personally craves everything about the outdoors in North Idaho, including mountain biking, fly fishing, and snow skiing.

Stefanie Wren, PT, DPT

Stefanie attended graduate school at Indiana University. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Aeronautics from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in 1998. Prior to her interest in physical therapy, she served in the United States Air Force and worked in the field of aviation.

Stefanie enjoys working with post-surgical patients, assisting them in returning to the activities they enjoy. She also loves treating patients who come to therapy with pain or weakness and helping them improve their health. Stefanie’s hobbies are spending time at the lake and enjoying the beauty of Northern Idaho.

Jim Behrens, PT, DPT

Jim enjoys treating patients with various orthopedic conditions, including back, neck, hip, knee, and ankle joint injury and dysfunction. He also enjoys sports and vestibular rehabilitation. He loves physical therapy because he is able to see his patients’ functional improvements. Through success stories from patients, he is inspired when hearing of their goals and aspirations being met as a result of therapy. 


He grew up in Payson, Arizona and attended Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. From there, he moved to Pocatello to attend Idaho State University where is earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. Some of his hobbies include hunting, fly fishing, golfing, mountain biking, and snowboarding. He also enjoys spending time with his fiancée Karissa and their dog, Lefty.

Torin Starkey, PTA

Torin received his Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Washington University in Exercise Science. He went onto earn a Physical Therapist Assistant degree in 2009 from Whatcom Community College in Bellingham, Washington.

As an athlete in high school and athletic training student in college, Torin began to learn the importance of quality hands on care and the positive effects it has in the rehabilitation process. He loves the diversity of patients (from pediatrics to geriatrics) and daily challenges involved in outpatient orthopedics. He has been treating patients in the orthopedic field for ten years, and has significant interest in the areas of chronic pain and therapeutic neuroscience education.

Originally from Renton, WA, Torin has grown very fond of this area and enjoys all of the outdoor activities North Idaho has to offer, including hiking, fly fishing, snow shoeing, skiing, and camping. He lives in Coeur d'Alene, ID with his wife and their two children.

COLLIN Zimmerman, PT, DPT

Collin is a graduate of the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND. He is passionate about serving patients and meeting their needs and specific goals. Collin enjoys working with patients who have back pain, knee pain, neck pain, and many others. He has experience treating people who have vertigo (dizziness) or have dizzy spells. His goal is to provide therapy that is second to none and build a partnership with each patient to ensure the best results. He is committed to finding answers and working as a team to collaborate in order to provide a high standard of care. Collin likes to work with people of all ages and demographics.

Collin was born and raised in Casper, WY. He enjoys the outdoors including but not limited to hunting, fishing, wake-boarding, snowboarding, and most sports that involve a ball. He is passionate about making connections and relationships in the community. He is always willing to try new and different things, making life an adventure. Collin is driven and goal oriented, always striving to reach the next goal.

Annette - Administration and HR

Annette grew up in Rathdrum with deep family ties to the area since the 1930’s. Her work history has always been customer and employee-service related. She loves working with the staff and patients at Pinnacle. In the summer, you will find her and her husband riding their Harleys while enjoying North Idaho and all its beauty!

Derek - Billing Manager

Derek settled in Spokane when his dad retired from the Marine Corps. He enjoys watching boxing, soccer, and Formula 1 racing. His personal time is spent with his family camping, hiking, video games, and tabletop gaming. He loves doing art activities and sharing his love of Star Wars and Marvel Comics with his two kids.

Matt - Marketing Director

Matt is an Idaho native and resident dad joke expert. With a 12 year background in photography, Matt helps build relationships with area physicians and new patients. He earned his Master's of Leadership and Management from WGU and enjoys employing these skills while leading cultural and business development at Pinnacle.

Matt is passionate about racing cars, learning new skills, and traveling the world. He recently completed a month-long trek around Europe, touring 15 countries and 30 cities. Matt has one fur child, Bella, a 13-year-old Boston Terrier.

Austin - PT Tech

Originally from Coeur d’Alene, Austin found his interest in healthcare through a dirt-bike crash when he was 16 that ruptured his quad tendon. His physical therapist got him back into action and inspired him to help others.

He recently completed a 4 month trek around Europe while working on farms and other places. In his spare time he enjoys the outdoors and plans to apply to physical therapy school soon where he will hopefully be starting a program next year.

Matt C. - PT Tech

Originally from Waldport, Oregon and a graduate from Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. He found his passion for PT as a patient several years ago. The experience opened his eyes to understand both sides of the rehabilitation process.

He plans to eventually take a couple years off to explore the world then attend PT school in the Pacific Northwest. In his spare time, you’ll find him on the lake, motocross track, at sporting events, or in the woods. He loves to talk and enjoys meeting new people.

Mishelle - Patient care coordinator

Mishelle is a Pacific Northwest native.  She lived in Western Washington until this summer when she moved to Idaho. She has worked in physical therapy for 16 years and enjoys seeing others reach their goals and feel better. When she is not working she loves to be outside hiking, backpacking, camping, paddle boarding or playing tennis.
